Vaping has been in the news a lot lately, but the headlines haven’t all been positive. There is a right way to vape and a wrong way. Each device works a little differently, so you have many brands to choose from with a seemingly endless array of flavors and types of materials to place into the vape. How do you know what is safe and what isn’t? Here are some important 101s to keep in mind, like what is vaping?

Vaping is an effective and popular method for consuming CBD hemp flower that will allow you to feel the effects within 5 to 10 minutes. Vaping is much gentler on your lungs and throat than smoking a bowl or a joint is. High Times agrees with us that vaping is one of the best methods for consuming CBD, because vaping will give you greater benefits than just ingesting it.

A vape device will heat your dried cannabis to a temperature that is slightly under its combustion point of 392°F. We recommend vaping only high quality and reputable hemp flower that actually contains a high concentration of the cannabinoid CBD for medicinal purposes. Please stay away from vaping tobacco or questionable marijuana oils. Choose dry CBD herbs and use caution or completely avoid concentrates. So how do these vaping wonders work?

Vaping is an electronic and non-carcinogenic method that often uses a battery or coil for heating. It allows one to inhale cannabis without the combustion process of burning marijuana. Depending on the vape device, it can use either convection heating or conduction heating. Some vape pens are meant to hold oil cartridges, while other devices such as the Volcano or the Pax are meant to hold hemp flower. Medical Jane reports that studies have found that the ideal point for vaporizing cannabis is around 338°F, even though cannabinoids begin to vaporize at 285°F.

Medical Jane says: “At this temperature the active cannabinoids in cannabis are converted to a vapor that can comfortably be inhaled as opposed to a joint which can burn as hot as 2000°F or higher. While the exact amount of components released depends on the compounds present and the temperature, none of the toxic bi-products of smoking plant matter is present in the vapor. This means that vapor will have a much higher percentage of desired cannabinoid/terpenoid content when compared to smoke.”

This fact from Medical Jane is a very important point to keep in mind when you are shopping for vapes and setting your standards up for the first time. Especially if you vaping for health and wellness purposes, and not just to feel a high like some do by choosing “THC rich marijuana strains”.

Are There Different Types of Vapes?

There are many products on the market for vaping. Some are individual pens that you can easily travel with and store in your pocket, while others are larger devices that are meant to be set up on a tabletop and used at home. Some devices use CBD oils while others use CBD hemp flower. We recommend choosing handheld vaporizers or tabletop vapes that call for raw CBD hemp flower. Stay away from concentrates. Why can vaping oil can be very questionable and even dangerous?

What exactly are Vape Oil Pens?

Vape oil pens are convenient for on-the-go use, but they have gotten a bad reputation in the news lately because some smokers are being rushed to the hospital with mysterious lung illnesses after using these things. You must be aware that there could be undetermined dangers associated with aerosols in these cartridges.

So How Do I Stay Safe?

We do not recommend that you purchase and use oil cartridges. However if you insist, make sure that your vape oil does not contain Vitamin E Acetate, which is a cutting agent used in many marijuana vape cartridges. Reuters reports that the “CDC has called Vitamin E Acetate as a “chemical of concern” and recommended that the substance not be added to e-cigarettes, or vaping products, while the investigation is ongoing.”

Experts generally agree that the theory of Vaping CBD is safe and can be effective for treating a wide range of health concerns and medical conditions. However, if you are sold a poor quality CBD tincture or oil, you can get sick. More than 2,000 people have been hospitalized after using electronic cigarettes or vape pens. Reuters reports that the CDC “released a series of reports… indicating that the outbreak of vaping-related lung injuries appears to be waning, as evidence mounts that Vitamin E Acetate, a cutting agent used in marijuana vape cartridges, is playing a role in the illnesses.”

So the good news is the more we educate consumers about dangers of vaping cartridges that concentrate on Vitamin E Oils, the more deaths we will soon prevent! Please tell your loved ones to stay away from vaping “everyday oils” and to choose legitimate CBD Flower based products instead. Talk to your doctor and check their opinion on which locations near you sell the best pure hemp flower products. Some head shops honestly don’t seem to care what they are selling and are stocking some questionable oils today. But there are many legitimate retailers with owners who care very much about providing only high quality hemp and cannabis plants from reputable licensed growers.

Do I Have Other Vape Options Aside From Pens?

Yes! You do not have to jump on the trendy bandwagon of vaping flavored oils. It can be dangerous! Instead, tabletop vapes such as The Volcano are larger in size and can be used at home. The Volcano is easy to fill with your CBD flower, then press a button to watch a bag become inflated with the vapor. After the bag is full, you press the button to stop the device, detach the bag and fasten it to a mouthpiece that comes with the vape when you purchase it. Slowly suck in the vapor and watch the bag deflate as you inhale. Vapes like this can be used as your personal, but they are also great choices for sharing with friends since each bag can easily be enjoyed by multiple people.

How to Use Your Vape the Best Way for Your Health…

To vape properly, slowly suck in the vapor from your device and allow it to stay in your mouth for a few seconds before gently inhaling it into your lungs. After it’s in your lungs, slowly exhale. Do not inhale too hard, or you may experience coughing. Thank you everybody!
